July 31, 2024 โ€“ HDFC Bank has announced significant updates to its Credit Card Loyalty Program, which will take effect from September 1st, 2024. These changes are set to impact various categories of transactions and reward points accumulation for cardholders. Hereโ€™s a breakdown of the key revisions:

Capping Reward Points on Utility and Telecom Transactions

Starting September 1st, 2024, cardholders will see a cap on reward points for utility and telecom transactions. The new cap limits reward points to 2000 per calendar month for each category.

  • Telecom & Cable Transactionsย 

Education Payments Through Third-Party Apps

Education payments made via third-party apps such as CRED, Cheq, and MobiKwik will no longer earn reward points. However, payments made directly to educational institutions through their websites or POS machines will continue to be rewarded. This change specifically affects consumer cards.

Redemption Caps on SmartBuy Portal

From October 1st, 2024, cardholders using the HDFC Bank SmartBuy portal will face new caps on the redemption of reward points:

  • Apple Products: Limited to one product per calendar quarter for Infinia and Infinia Metal cardholders.
  • Tanishq Vouchers: Capped at 50,000 reward points per calendar quarter for Infinia and Infinia Metal cardholders.

Calendar Quarters: April to June, July to September, October to December, January to March

No Reward Points for Wallet Loading and Easy EMI Transactions

Wallet loading and Easy EMI transactions will no longer earn reward points for Millennia cardholders. Additionally, Easy EMI transactions will not earn reward points for MoneyBack+ and Freedom cardholders.

  • Wallet Loading Increased Reward Points on Regalia First & Business Regalia First Cards

For Regalia First & Business Regalia First cardholders, every Rs. 150 spent will now earn 3 reward points on eligible transactions, providing enhanced benefits.
